Fortress of Nazemoor
Catacombs – Fortress of Nazemoor (hereafter referred to as Catacombs Fortress) is a one versus many dungeon crawler which is compatible with and expands Catacombs Third Edition (otherwise known as Catacombs 3E). It shares a common set of rules with that game, but offers all new content and a new way to play. Catacombs 3E has established itself as an industry “evergreen” title having been published for 10 years.
If you’re new to the Catacombs series, Catacombs Fortress is a great place to start! Games of both Catacombs Fortress and Catacombs 3E are either played on double-sided game boards or neoprene playmats.
The playmats are surrounded by Elzra’s Wall System, an easy to assemble barrier that prevents pieces from falling off the table during the game.

Up to three players select their hero. Catacombs Fortress includes six heroes: the Elven Queen, Healer, Insectoid, Prospector, Rabbit Ranger, and Woodland Guardian. Each hero is represented by a wooden piece and has their own unique set of actions and items that will aid them in their quest. As Catacombs Fortress is compatible with Catacombs 3E, there are many other heroes to choose from in the various expansions including Cavern of Soloth, Ice Box, and Red Box. Catacombs Fortress includes two sets of “Rules” cards for each hero: “A” and “B”. The “A” rules cards are for new players, while the “B” rules cards offer a unique “attribute” for each hero.
The dungeon master (or “Overseer“) player controls performs actions for the monsters and the Catacomb Lord (where appropriate), acting as the adversary the heroes aim to defeat.
Catacombs Fortress introduces a new character type called assistants that help both the heroes and the Overseer.
Combat in Catacombs Fortress and Catacombs 3E is resolved via flicking a player’s hero piece against a monster. If it hits, then these character shots inflict damage. Sometimes a player will have the opportunity to perform a ranged shot, such as a missile, fireball or shuriken that is flicked from the location of the hero’s piece.
